FAISALABAD, Jun 09 (APP): Iranthi Premaratne, an internationally renowned expert in the field of textile waste management and circular economy visited the office of Suthra Punjab Agency here on Tuesday.
He called on Chairman Board of Directors Muhammad Ahmed and Managing Director Suthra Punjab Agency Abid Hussain Bhatti.
They discussed effective management of waste generated from the textile industry, recycling, resource recovery and sustainable waste management models.
Iranthi Premaratne presented important suggestions regarding converting textile waste into economic resources, promotion of circular economy and environment-friendly measures in the light of international experiences.
Later, she visited the control room of Suthra Punjab Agency, where she was briefed about the ongoing Suthra Program under the vision of Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Appreciating the modern monitoring system of the Suthra Punjab program and effective supervision of sanitation operations, grievance redressal mechanism and waste collection system, she said that the public welfare initiatives in Punjab under the leadership of Chief
Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif were commendable.
The Suthra Punjab program was also one of them which was a very effective and exemplary model and was proving to be effective in improving the quality of life of the people.
Expressing satisfaction over the excellent sanitation arrangements in Faisalabad, she said the mechanism of Suthra Punjab in Faisalabad was reflecting a successful management model.
Managing Director Abid Hussain Bhatti said that Faisalabad was the largest textile center of the country, so a modern and sustainable solution to textile waste management was the need of hour.
In the future, such initiatives would be promoted in consultation with international experts that would help in environmental protection and better utilization of resources.
Later, both the sides expressed their determination to further promote mutual cooperation and exchange in the fields of waste management, circular economy and recycling of textile waste.
