SARGODHA, May 12 (APP):International Nurses Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and respect at Al-Karam Nursing College Sargodha here on Tuesday to acknowledge the valuable services and sacrifices of nurses in the healthcare sector.
The ceremony was organized in connection with International Nurses Day, observed annually on May 12 across the world to mark the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing and popularly known as the “Lady with the Lamp.”
The Chief Executive Officer of the college Malik Muhammad Yousaf addressed the ceremony and paid tribute to nurses for their dedication, compassion and professional commitment in serving humanity.
He said nurses played a vital role in the healthcare system and their contributions could never be ignored, particularly during emergencies and challenging situations.
A cake-cutting ceremony was also held during the event, while the college hall was beautifully decorated with balloons, buntings, banners and specially designed badges to celebrate the occasion in a dignified manner.
The Principal Al-Karam Nursing College Mrs. Shumaela, teachers Asfand, Mrs. Iffat Noureen, Muhammad Ashraf Bhutta and others attended the ceremony and highlighted the importance of the nursing profession in society.
Speaking on the occasion, participants said International Nurses Day not only honored the legacy of Florence Nightingale but also served as a reminder of the need to support nurses through better education, professional opportunities and improved working conditions.
The speakers added that nurses were the backbone of healthcare institutions and their services reflected patience, care and humanity. They stressed the need to encourage young people, especially women, to join the nursing profession for the betterment of the healthcare sector.
The event concluded with prayers for the prosperity of the country and appreciation for healthcare workers serving across Pakistan.
