Punjab Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique said that installation of RCC pipe plants started in five cities under the Punjab Development Programme (PDP).

LAHORE, Mar 15 (APP): Punjab Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique said that installation of RCC pipe plants started in five cities under the Punjab Development Programme (PDP).
He said that Rs13 billion had been saved in 51 cities through transparent tendering carried out under the supervision of the Local Government Department.
The minister expressed these views while addressing a review meeting held at the Civil Secretariat. Special Secretary (Development) Asia Gul and Project Director Ahmer Sohail Kaifi also briefed the meeting on the progress of the programme.
Zeeshan Rafique said that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, only lined pipes with an estimated life of about 100 years would be used in all PDP schemes.
He said that initially the plants were being set up in Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Kamalia, Lodhran and Ferozewala, adding that more plants would also be established to maintain the supply chain.
He said that the Punjab Development Programme was a major initiative of the government led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, adding that never before had such development projects been launched simultaneously in so many cities.
The minister said the chief minister was receiving regular updates on the progress of the PDP and added that, in the first phase, 32 roadside storage tanks were also being constructed.
