LAHORE, Jun 12 (APP): SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry former president Iftikhar Ali Malik on Friday termed the federal budget 2026-27 a balanced, growth-oriented and export-friendly.
He said that it contained a comprehensive package of incentives to accelerate economic activities across the country.
In a statement, he welcomed the reforms announced for ease of doing business and said the budgetary measures would help steer the national economy towards sustainable growth while providing relief to the weaker segments of society.
He expressed the hope that economic indicators would continue to improve, with higher remittances and increased economic activity contributing to stronger GDP growth. He said a sound economy was essential for the stability and progress of any country and voiced confidence that Pakistan would advance further under prudent economic policies.
Appreciating the economic vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Malik said the incentives and support measures announced in the budget would provide relief to the business community, encourage investment and help enhance the country’s exports.
He observed that Pakistan’s economy had been facing challenges due to climate change and global geopolitical developments, which had affected manufacturers, traders, retailers, importers and exporters. However, he added, the government had taken bold decisions to address these challenges and strengthen economic stability.
Highlighting the importance of agriculture, Malik stressed the need for adopting modern technologies to increase per-acre yield. He welcomed the allocation of significant funds for research and development and said the promotion of scientific farming and high-yield hybrid seeds would contribute to the modernization of the agriculture sector.
He expressed confidence that any concerns of the business community regarding the budget would be addressed through consultation, adding that a strong and vibrant business sector remained vital for economic growth and national development.
