Ice factory, spice grinding units sealed in Chishtian over food safety violations
CHISHTIAN, Aug 10 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA), Bahawalnagar, has sealed an ice factory and spice grinding units for producing ice with contaminated water and preparing adulterated spices, while destroying 215 kilograms of adulterated spices and imposing fines totaling Rs180,000 on three food business operators.
According to details, the action was carried out under the supervision of the Director Operations, South Zone, Punjab Food Authority, in areas including Arifwala Road, Mubarak Gate and Model Town.
An ice factory located on Eidgah Road was ordered to remain closed until corrective measures are taken after harmful bacteria were detected in the water being used for ice production.
Meanwhile, production at a spice grinding unit in Model Town was halted after samples of its spices failed quality and safety tests. A case was also registered against the owner of the unit.
The PFA further imposed heavy fines on three milk collection centres for violating food safety regulations.
Punjab Food Authority officials said that strict action would continue against food businesses found compromising public health and safety. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that safe and hygienic food products are supplied to consumers.
