Housing Parliamentary Secretary reviews WASA Murree performance, stresses service delivery

Parliamentary Secretary for Housing Punjab Sultan Tariq Bajwa on Thursday visited Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Murree and reviewed the agency’s performance, terming its establishment a step towards ensuring provision of clean drinking water in line with the provincial government’s vision.

RAWALPINDI, Mar 26 (APP):Parliamentary Secretary for Housing Punjab Sultan Tariq Bajwa on Thursday visited Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Murree and reviewed the agency’s performance, terming its establishment a step towards ensuring provision of clean drinking water in line with the provincial government’s vision.

He said improving the supply of safe drinking water and drainage systems across Punjab remained the provincial government’s top priority, adding that special focus was being given to provision of basic facilities in Murree as a key tourist destination.

During the visit, he directed the authorities concerned to further enhance service delivery and ensure timely redressal of public complaints.

He appreciated the performance of WASA Murree, saying the Agency had made notable progress in a short period.

Managing Director WASA Murree Azeem Shaukat Awan briefed the parliamentary secretary on the establishment, performance and ongoing projects of the agency.

The briefing highlighted that effective measures had been taken to improve water sources and the distribution system in Murree.

The managing director said that since its establishment, the Agency had increased daily water supply by around 850,000 gallons, while installation of filtration plants to provide clean drinking water had been completed.

He added that installation of manhole covers and cleaning of drains was also under way, while fire hydrants had been installed to ensure uninterrupted water supply to Rescue 1122.

During the visit, the parliamentary secretary also inspected Mall Road and the historic Tunley Water Tank and
expressed satisfaction over the ongoing development work.
