Hina Butt takes notice of female teacher’s killing in Pakpattan

Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) Chairperson Hina Pervaiz Butt on Thursday took notice of the brutal killing of a female teacher in Arifwala area of Pakpattan and sought a report from the district police officer (DPO) Pakpattan.

LAHORE, Apr 23 (APP):Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) Chairperson Hina Pervaiz Butt on Thursday took notice of the brutal killing of a female teacher in Arifwala area of Pakpattan and sought a report from the district police officer (DPO) Pakpattan.
According to details, in Arifwala, a female teacher was allegedly abducted, subjected to sexual assault, and later brutally killed. The accused reportedly burned the body and disposed of it in fields in an attempt to conceal identity.
Police said that an FIR has been registered and timely action led to the arrest of two nominated suspects, identified as Asif alias Bola and a female suspect Rehana, while raids are being conducted to arrest the main accused Zahid Sukhera.
Condemning the incident, Hina Pervaiz Butt termed the crime extremely brutal, inhumane and deeply tragic, saying that assaulting a woman and then murdering and burning her body is a barbaric act. She said that those involved in such heinous crimes against women deserve no leniency and will be dealt with strictly under the law.
She said that, in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, there will be no compromise on the protection of women. She directed that the investigation be carried out with complete transparency, neutrality and on merit, adding that the main accused should be arrested immediately and justice must be ensured for the affected family.
She further said that if any evidence of involvement of any official personnel emerges, strict action will be taken against them as well without any hesitation. She added that the PWPA will provide full legal and institutional support to the victim’s family and will ensure implementation of the CM’s vision of a “Safe Punjab for Women.”
