RAWALPINDI, Aug 14 (APP): The Rawalpindi General Post Office (GPO) observed Independence Day with patriotic fervor, illuminating its historic building with colorful lights to mark the occasion.
A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the GPO premises, where Chief Postmaster Rawalpindi Atif Naveed Dhotar hoisted the national flag followed by the playing of the national anthem. The event was attended by Probation Officer Kainat, departmental officers, staff members, and philatelists.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Postmaster Atif Naveed Dhotar stated that freedom is a divine blessing, emphasizing the need to rise above prejudices and remain united as a nation.
He noted that ancestors rendered immense sacrifices to secure an independent country, adding that it is now the collective responsibility of citizens to drive national progress through hard work, integrity, and solidarity.
He highlighted that Pakistan Post remains a key public service institution committed to upgrading mailing services and delivering quality facilities in line with modern requirements.
He urged employees to utilize their full capabilities to enhance institutional performance and align the national postal network with global standards.
The ceremony concluded with an Independence Day cake-cutting ceremony and special prayers offered for the security, stability, and progress of the country.
