GCWUS commemorates Fatima Jinnah’s birth anniversary
SIALKOT, Aug 01 (APP):Government College Women University (GCWU) Sialkot on Saturday marked the birth anniversary of Madar-e-Millat Fatima Jinnah with a ceremony highlighting her role in the Pakistan Movement and her lifelong contribution to women’s education and empowerment.
Speaking at the event held at the university’s Fatima Jinnah Campus,Vice Chancellor(VC) Prof.Dr.Shazia Bashir said Fatima Jinnah had stood shoulder to shoulder with Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah during the struggle for Pakistan and continued to serve the nation after independence by promoting women’s education and social development.
She said Fatima Jinnah’s life remained a symbol of courage,leadership and public service,inspiring generations of women to contribute to national development.
The VC noted that the university’s Fatima Jinnah Campus held special historical significance, as the institution, then a college, was inaugurated by Fatima Jinnah in 1951.
She said the campus was later named in her honour in recognition of her enduring national and educational contributions.
Prof.Bashir reaffirmed the university’s commitment to carrying forward Madar-e-Millat’s vision by promoting quality education,research,leadership and women’s empowerment.
The ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting to mark the occasion while participants paid tribute to Fatima Jinnah’s services to the nation and offered prayers for Pakistan’s prosperity and the advancement of women’s education.
