Four food units fined

Punjab Food Authority (PFA) imposed a total fine of Rs 340,000 on four food production units for violation of Punjab Pure Food Regulation in Sundar Industrial Estate and adjoining areas of the city. 

LAHORE, Jun 02 (APP): Punjab Food Authority (PFA) imposed a total fine of Rs 340,000 on four food production units for violation of Punjab Pure Food Regulation in Sundar Industrial Estate and adjoining areas of the city.
Food safety teams discarded over two maunds of substandard pickles, jam and raw materials recovered from the units. The teams found several mandatory records and essential documents missing during the inspections.
Poor sanitation arrangements, fungus infested walls and unhygienic conditions were also observed at the premises.
The PFA DG said that teams observed a heavy presence of insects, flies and spider webs in processing areas, posing a serious risk to food safety and quality standards. Necessary enforcement actions were taken against the units for failing
to comply with food regulations.
He said that no compromise would be made on food quality, regardless of whether a food business was small or large. He said that food safety teams remain active on every front to safeguard public health and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
He further stated that there would be no compromise on public health and every avenue of food fraud and adulteration was being effectively blocked through strict enforcement and continuous monitoring across Punjab.
