Food safety drive continues in Gujrat

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continued its inspection campaign across the district on the directives of Deputy Director Gujrat, Sadia Rafat, to ensure the provision of safe and hygienic food to the public.

GUJRAT, Jun 06 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continued its inspection campaign across the district on the directives of Deputy Director Gujrat, Sadia Rafat, to ensure the provision of safe and hygienic food to the public.
According to official sources, food safety teams inspected a total of 44 food businesses during the latest operation. During the inspections, 24 food points were issued improvement notices for violating hygiene standards and food safety regulations.
Officials further said that eight food businesses were fined a total of Rs123,000 for non-compliance with food safety laws.
In addition, 0.9 kilograms of expired and substandard food items were confiscated and destroyed on the spot to prevent their sale in the market.
Deputy Director Punjab Food Authority Gujrat, Sadia Rafat, said that continuous inspections and strict enforcement actions are being carried out to ensure the provision of safe, healthy and quality food to the public.
She added that the drive against violators would continue without any discrimination, and all food business operators must strictly follow food safety standards to avoid legal action.
