Food Authority assures traders of cooperation, continued action against adulteration
RAWALPINDI, Sep 18 (APP):A delegation of the Rawalpindi Restaurants, Caterers, Sweets and Bakers Associations, under the patronage of Chaudhry Muhammad Naeem, met Director, North Punjab Food Authority, Chaudhry Ejaz Ahmed and congratulated him on assuming his new responsibilities.
The delegation also presented a bouquet to Chaudhry Ejaz Ahmed and discussed various issues being faced by the business community, particularly matters relating to food safety inspections and regulatory requirements.
Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhry Ejaz Ahmed said that teams of the Punjab Food Authority were conducting routine inspections in different areas to ensure the provision of safe and quality food to citizens.
He said action was being taken against adulterated and substandard food items, while teams were also checking the quality of milk, meat and other food products at different points. He added that a significant quantity of adulterated milk had also been discarded during inspections in various areas.
The Director said cleanliness and hygiene standards at restaurants, bakeries, sweets shops and other food businesses were also being checked, along with the required licences and other food safety requirements.
He assured the traders that those running their businesses in accordance with hygiene and food safety standards would receive full cooperation from the Food Authority and would not face unnecessary inconvenience.
Chaudhry Ejaz Ahmed said the authority’s objective was to ensure food safety and protect public health while facilitating businesses that were complying with the prescribed standards.
The traders apprised the Director of their concerns and expressed their willingness to cooperate with the Food Authority in maintaining food quality and hygiene standards.
