WAH CANTT   , Jul 20 (APP):The authorities on Monday said they intercepted an  attempt to smuggle around 15 tons of subsidised wheat flour from Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), seizing a container at an inter-provincial checkpost on the GT Road near Wah Garden.
According to officials, the flour was concealed inside a container carrying goods of various descriptions and was discovered during a routine inspection at the checkpost.
They said that officers became suspicious after identifying discrepancies between the shipping documents and the declared cargo.
A subsequent search uncovered approximately 15 tons of wheat flour that officials allege was being transported illegally to KP.
Checkpost In-charge, Arsalan Randhawa and Sub-Inspector Haris were credited with detecting the concealed consignment, the officials added.
The seized flour has been taken into official custody, while the container has been impounded pending further investigation.
The legal proceedings have been initiated against the suspected smugglers, the officials said, adding that action had also been launched against the flour mill allegedly linked to the illegal shipment.
