Flood preparedness mock exercise held in Gujrat

Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122), in collaboration with the district administration, conducted a flood preparedness mock exercise at Head Khanki on the River Chenab to assess emergency response capabilities ahead of monsoon season.

GUJRAT, Jun 30 (APP): Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122), in collaboration with the district administration, conducted a flood preparedness mock exercise at Head Khanki on the River Chenab to assess emergency response capabilities ahead of monsoon season.
According to official sources, the exercise was held under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Gujrat Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi.
District Emergency Officer Engineer Umar Akbar Ali Ghuman supervised the exercise, while representatives of all relevant departments participated to demonstrate coordinated flood response measures. Various departments also set up stalls displaying rescue equipment and emergency resources.
The deputy commissioner, accompanied by the district emergency officer, reviewed the exercise and inspected the stalls set up by the participating departments.
Rescue 1122 demonstrated flood rescue operations, including the evacuation of stranded people, establishment of a field first-aid camp and search and rescue operations for simulated drowning incidents.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi appreciated Rescue 1122 and the participating departments for successfully conducting the exercise and expressed satisfaction over the district’s preparedness to respond effectively to any flood emergency.
District Emergency Officer Engineer Umar Akbar Ali Ghuman said the exercise aimed to assess the professional capabilities of Rescue 1122 personnel, test the operational readiness of rescue equipment and strengthen inter-departmental coordination to ensure a prompt and effective response during emergencies.
The exercise was also attended by officials of the Livestock Department, District Health Authority, Pakistan Army, Social Welfare Department, Revenue Department, WASA, Civil Defence, Irrigation Department,  and other relevant departments.
