RAWALPINDI, Jul 16 (APP): Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) has announced the launch of several market-oriented BS programmes, including Data Science, Forensic Science, and Fintech, to equip female students with modern global skills. The BS AI & Robotics programme, which was introduced in the previous academic year, has received a magnificent response from female students. This year, the university has introduced even more innovative faculties. FJWU Vice Chancellor Dr. Bushra Mirza (TI) informed this in an interview with the APP here on Thursday. Dr. Bushra Mirza said that the new academic programmes aimed to polish the potential of female students and provide them with excellent global employment opportunities. According to the Vice Chancellor, the university was introducing these advanced BS programmes in its history to meet local and international market demands.”This is what we are striving to bridge academia and Industry”, she said. The newly launched disciplines included BS Data Science, BS Computer Systems, BS Forensic Science, BS Financial Technology (Fintech), BS Business Analytics, and BS Fashion and Interior Design. She highlighted that the BS Data Science and BS Computer Systems programmes were designed to address the rapidly growing demand in the global IT sector by combining hardware and software technologies. The Vice Chancellor further observed that BS Forensic Science would enable professional participation of women in criminal investigations and the justice system. It is worth mentioning that the recently launched modern career-focused BS programs, including Forensic Science, make it a premier public-sector choice for female students in the twin cities. Fatima Jinnah University achieves a unique status in this regard, as no public sector university is offering forensic sciences in the twin cities. Moreover, BS Fintech and BS Business Analytics programmes would open new economic horizons through data-driven decision-making. She maintained that the BS Fashion & Interior Design programme has been introduced to give opportunities to learn and express creative skills of female youth.”The university administration and academic council continuously review international academic trends to adapt our curriculum and educational standards accordingly,” Dr. Mirza said, adding that the primary goal is to fully align FJWU with global educational benchmarks. Highlighting the university’s academic infrastructure, she underlined that state-of-the-art incubation and research centres had been established at the campus to foster academic and research capabilities under the guidance of highly qualified faculty. The Vice Chancellor lauded the role of the academic council and faculty members for their continuous efforts in upgrading the university’s curriculum to meet international standards. She underscored the unique distinction of FJWU as Pakistan’s first-ever formal women’s university, dedicated to providing a secure and productive learning environment for female students. She further observed that a vast number of FJWU graduates are currently serving in key positions across various public, semi-public, and private organisations at both national and provincial levels, contributing to the socio-economic development of the country. Dr. Mirza maintained that the newly launched BS programmes would serve as a milestone in strengthening women’s empowerment and increasing their participation in the national economy. Responding to a question, she highlighted that the university is also planning to expand its external collaborations to provide hands-on internship opportunities to students before graduation. The vice chancellor underscored the need for parents to encourage their daughters to opt for these modern scientific and technical disciplines to secure a bright future. The admission process for the new programmes for the current academic session is underway.
