Five traffic cops dismissed in corruption crackdown

Five traffic police officials have been dismissed from service in Layyah as part of a strict accountability drive launched against corruption and abuse of authority,here on Tuesday.

LAYYAH, Jun 09 (APP):Five traffic police officials have been dismissed from service in Layyah as part of a strict accountability drive launched against corruption and abuse of authority,here on Tuesday.
District Police Officer (DPO) Hassan Javed Bhatti ordered the dismissal of the five officials on charges of corruption and issuing fake traffic challans.
In a separate action,one traffic police official was compulsorily retired from service as a disciplinary measure.
The DPO also demoted an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) for conducting an unauthorized raid.
A constable was dismissed for prolonged absence while two constables were penalized with service forfeiture for negligence during duty.
Additionally,two constables were fined for unauthorized absence while another was awarded the punishment of service forfeiture.
Three officers received censure for minor misconduct and one officer was also penalized with service forfeiture.
Meanwhile,show-cause notices issued to 16 police employees were withdrawn after their explanations were found satisfactory.
DPO Hassan Javed Bhatti said the accountability process would continue to ensure transparency,discipline and the elimination of corruption from the police force.
