MULTAN, Apr 27 (APP):Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited) on Monday intensified its crackdown against gas theft, illegal usage and technical violations, disconnecting five more meters during an enforcement drive in Multan.
According to details,the Utility Fraud Control (UFG) Task Force conducted operations at 65 locations to ensure safe and uninterrupted gas supply to consumers.
Officials said the task force recovered two meters that had been removed by consumers,while one meter installed in an upside-down position was also removed.
In addition,two meters were disconnected over the use of compressors for illegally obtaining gas, in violation of regulations.
The aim of the operation was to curb gas theft,improve system pressure,ensure uninterrupted supply and address public complaints,officials said,adding that illegal practices adversely affect system performance and pose serious safety risks.
Speaking on the occasion,the General Manager SNGPL Multan said consumer safety remained the organization’s top priority.
He advised consumers to remain vigilant and ensure there were no gas leaks before use,warning them to take immediate precautions in case of any gas smell.
He further reiterated that indiscriminate action against gas theft and illegal connections would continue to ensure safe, reliable and uninterrupted gas supply to consumers.
