Fire breaks out at cotton factory in Madina Colony; timely response prevents major loss

RAWALPINDI, Apr 08 (APP): A sudden fire erupted on Wednesday at a cotton factory here in Madina Colony, but prompt action by Rescue 1122 prevented extensive damage, a spokesman said.
On receiving the alert, the spokesman said seven emergency vehicles—including four fire brigade trucks, one ambulance, one rescue vehicle, and a motorbike rescue service (MRS)—reached the factory within minutes and began firefighting operations.
The presence of cotton and other flammable materials caused the flames to spread rapidly, but rescue personnel, using water from multiple directions, contained the fire and prevented it from reaching nearby buildings. After several hours of sustained effort, the fire was fully brought under control.
A cooling operation was completed later, during which the site was carefully inspected to eliminate any risk of re-ignition, the spokesman said.
Officials reported no casualties, although the factory sustained financial losses due to the destruction of cotton and other materials. Investigations into the cause of the fire have been initiated.
Local residents praised the swift response of the rescue teams, noting that any delay could have resulted in far greater damage.
