Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Chief Executive Officer Engineer Muhammad Aamer has issued a comprehensive public safety advisory for monsoon and urged the consumers and field staff to strictly follow electricity safety protocols to prevent fatal accidents and ensure uninterrupted power supply during floods and rainy season.
FESCO issues monsoon safety alert to prevent electrocution during floods
FAISALABAD, Jul 20 (APP): Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Chief Executive Officer Engineer Muhammad Aamer has issued a comprehensive public safety advisory for monsoon and urged the consumers and field staff to strictly follow electricity safety protocols to prevent fatal accidents and ensure uninterrupted power supply during floods and rainy season.
He directed all operational formations across the FESCO region to maintain strict monitoring of the weather situation and ensure uninterrupted yet safe electricity supply by implementing all necessary preventive and corrective measures.
He emphasized that every possible effort should be made to safeguard human lives, livestock, public property and the power distribution infrastructure.
Engr. Muhammad Aamer appealed to the consumers to immediately report any electricity related complaint or emergency through the contact numbers printed on their electricity bills, FESCO’s Toll-Free Helpline 0800-66554, Helpline 118 or the FESCO Headquarters Complaint Centre at 041-9220290 and 041-9220618.
He advised consumers to have the internal wiring of their homes inspected regularly by licensed electricians and to replace defective wiring without delay.
He also warned the public against tying motorcycles, bicycles or livestock to or near electricity poles, towers, structures, or stay wires, as these may become electrically hazardous.
The FESCO CEO further urged parents to keep metallic objects out of the reach of children to prevent them from inserting such items into electrical sockets.
He cautioned the public never to touch or attempt to remove any object entangled with power lines and instead seek assistance from FESCO staff.
The consumers were also advised not to carry out excavation, digging, or bore drilling for water pumps beneath or near overhead electricity lines.
During rainfall people should maintain a minimum distance of three meters (10 feet) from electricity poles, metallic structures, low-hanging or fallen power lines, and trees in contact with electricity wires.
Reiterating FESCO’s commitment to public safety, the CEO said that the company’s mission is to achieve zero electrical accidents, adding that this objective can only be realized through strict compliance with FESCO’s safety instructions by consumers.
He said that the public’s cooperation would play a vital role in ensuring a safe and uninterrupted power supply throughout the monsoon season.
