DG KHAN, Jun 09 (APP): Federal Ombudsman office provided relief to electricity consumers during a complaint hearing held at the Federal Ombudsman regional office in Dera Ghazi Khan, where 62 complaints regarding Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) were addressed.
Assistant Advisor and Regional In-charge Muhammad Sohaib heard 62 complaints pertaining to MEPCO Dera Ghazi Khan and MEPCO Kot Chutta. Acting on the directives of Federal Ombudsman Naveed Kamran Baloch, he issued necessary instructions to the relevant officials for the prompt resolution of public complaints and the provision of effective relief.
During the proceedings, penalties and surcharges imposed on several consumers through disputed electricity bills were withdrawn on the spot. The action resulted in financial relief amounting to approximately Rs900,000 for affected consumers.
To ensure timely justice, complaints of citizens who were unable to attend the hearing in person were also heard through telephone calls.
Speaking to media representatives after the hearing, Muhammad Sohaib urged the public to register complaints against federal departments without fear or hesitation. He said that the Federal Ombudsman department was committed to ensuring transparent, merit-based and speedy justice for citizens.
He emphasized that, in accordance with the vision and directives of Federal Ombudsman Naveed Kamran Baloch, efforts were being made to resolve public grievances and ensure the swift delivery of justice. He noted that complaints filed with the Federal Ombudsman were decided within 60 days without any fee or the need for legal representation.
