FAISALABAD, Aug 05 (APP): Director General (DG) Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Muhammad Asif Choudhry said that the FDA is advancing the implementation of a comprehensive tree plantation project under “New Vision” initiative with active community participation.
Under this initiative, a large number of fruit-bearing trees of various species would be planted across FDA City and suitable locations throughout the vast area of FDA City have already been identified where plantation activities would be carried out in phases, he added.
He was chairing a meeting at his office where Project Director FDA City and Director Estate Management Sohail Maqsood Pannu, Director IT, Yasir Ejaz Chattha, and other officers were also present.
On the occasion, prominent local businessman Sheikh Muhammad Arif, who has a keen interest in promoting tree plantation, offered to support the initiative by sponsoring the plantation of a large number of fruit-bearing trees in FDA City.
Welcoming the offer, Director General FDA described it as an excellent example of corporate social responsibility and environmental stewardship.
He directed the concerned officers to formulate a comprehensive strategy for the project including the selection of suitable fruit tree species in consultation with horticultural experts, the preparation of a phased plantation schedule and the establishment of effective arrangements for the protection, irrigation, and continuous maintenance of the saplings to ensure they mature into healthy, productive trees.
He emphasized that tree plantation is essential for addressing the adverse impacts of climate change, reducing air pollution, moderating temperatures, and providing citizens with a healthier and more pleasant environment.
He said that fruit-bearing trees not only enhance the beauty and greenery of the surroundings but also contribute significantly to biodiversity and food resources.
For this reason, tree plantation is being incorporated as an integral component of development projects in FDA City, he added.
FDA Director General further said that under the New Vision initiative, the project would be developed into a sustainable model through community participation with the aim of promoting public awareness about planting and protecting trees.
He urged philanthropists, the business community, industrial organizations, educational institutions and social organizations to actively support the plantation campaign, stressing that creating a greener environment is a shared responsibility.
The Director General reaffirmed FDA’s commitment to utilizing all available resources to ensure the success of the project and to transform FDA City into a model of environmentally sustainable development, characterized by abundant fruit-bearing trees, lush green landscapes, and eco-friendly urban growth.
