LAHORE, Aug 31 (APP):The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Punjab on Monday sealed two industrial units at Adda Plot on Raiwind Road for burning waste and causing smoke pollution.
According to the EPA spokesperson,field team sealed Bilal Switch Gear and Auto Engineering during a major operation against open burning of garbage and industrial waste.
The EPA said a zero-tolerance policy was being enforced against those openly burning garbage and industrial waste,adding that no one would be allowed to pollute Lahore’s air with toxic smoke.
The agency directed industrial and commercial units to dispose of their waste through environmentally friendly methods.
The EPA Lahore said immediate action would be taken on reports of waste burning while field teams had been directed to maintain strict monitoring of such incidents.
It further warned that indiscriminate legal action would be taken against units found violating environmental regulations.
The crackdown against elements responsible for air pollution and smog would continue across Lahore,the EPA concluded.
