Experts have stressed that environmental protection, climate resilience and sustainable development require collective efforts from government institutions, industry, academia and civil society to ensure a greener and safer future for coming generations.

FAISALABAD, Jun 05 (APP): Experts have stressed that environmental protection, climate resilience and sustainable development require collective efforts from government institutions, industry, academia and civil society to ensure a greener and safer future for coming generations.
They were addressing a seminar, organised by the Environmental Society of The University of Faisalabad (TUF) in collaboration with the Punjab Environmental Protection Department under this year’s World Environment Day theme, “Inspired by Nature, for Climate, for Our Future”.
The event brought together distinguished representatives from government departments, industrial sectors and environmental organizations who discussed key environmental challenges, sustainable development strategies and practical solutions for building an environmentally responsible society.
Among the guest speakers included Mudassar Mumtaz, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning) from the Commissioner Office Faisalabad; Naveed Akram, acting president of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Hafiz Asghar, acting president ofAll Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association; and Shakeel Ansari, president of the Textile Sizing Association.
They highlighted the importance of coordinated measures to promote environmental conservation and strengthen climate resilience.
Addressing the participants, Rector TUF Prof Dr Amanullah Malik underscored the significance of environmental responsibility and urged students, faculty members and stakeholders to play an active role in building a sustainable and secure future.
He said that educational institutions have a crucial responsibility in creating environmental awareness and equipping young generations with the knowledge and skills needed to tackle emerging climate-related challenges.
The successful organization of the seminar was made possible through the efforts of Dr Shaista Shafiq, adviser to the Environmental Society and Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology TUF, and Deputy Director Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Usman Azhar, who played a key role in coordinating the event.
Representatives of WWF-Pakistan, faculty members and a large number of students attended the seminar and actively participated in discussions on environmental sustainability and climate action.
The ceremony concluded with the signing of an environmental pledge, reaffirming the collective commitment of organizers and participants to protect the environment, promote sustainable practices and work jointly towards securing a greener, healthier and more sustainable future for generations to come.
