The government has appointed Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam Raja as Chairman of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) following approval by the Prime Minister and the federal cabinet, official sources said.

RAWALPINDI, Jun 29 (APP): The government has appointed Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam Raja as Chairman of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) following approval by the Prime Minister and the federal cabinet, official sources said.
A notification regarding his appointment has been issued.
Under special directives of the Prime Minister, record funds have been allocated for NAVTTC in the current budget to equip youth with modern technical skills and create better employment opportunities both domestically and abroad.
Selection of Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam Raja was made in view of his vast experience and strong performance in key leadership roles.
He has previously headed several institutions, including the Punjab Education Foundation and Islamabad Electric Supply Company, where he demonstrated notable administrative and professional competence.
Talking to APP, Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam Raja reaffirmed his commitment to transforming NAVTTC into a more dynamic, demand-driven organization aligned with international standards.
He said that his priority would be to equip Pakistani youth with market-relevant skills, enhance industry linkages, and expand opportunities for overseas employment.
Engr Qamar-ul-Islam further said that efforts would be made to introduce modern training programmes, particularly in emerging technologies, while also strengthening traditional technical education sectors.
He added that improving governance, transparency and institutional performance would remain a key focus.
