DERA GHAZI KHAN, Jul 15 (APP): The district administration launched an emergency campaign to identify and secure dilapidated and dangerous buildings across the district to protect lives and property during the ongoing monsoon season. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Usman Khalid said on Wednesday that the district and tehsil-level committees were being constituted to conduct comprehensive surveys, identify unsafe structures and issue notices to their owners for immediate action. The DC urged citizens to immediately vacate buildings showing signs of structural damage, including cracks, weakened roofs, leaning walls or any other hazardous conditions, and promptly report such structures to the concerned Assistant Commissioner, Rescue 1122 or the district administration.
He advised that repair work on damaged buildings should only be undertaken after a thorough technical assessment and approval by a qualified engineer to prevent any untoward incidents. Muhammad Usman Khalid directed all relevant departments, local government institutions and district administration officials to ensure continuous identification, inspection and monitoring of vulnerable buildings and to implement all precautionary measures effectively during the monsoon.
