LAHORE, Apr 05 (APP): Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar has said that the everlasting Sufi teachings of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (Ali bin Usman al-Hajweri RA), convey a message of peace, tolerance and spiritual enlightenment.
He said this during his visit to the shrine of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh, here on Sunday.
Punjab Auqaf Secretary Dr Ehsan Bhutta and Administrator of Data Darbar Muhammad Ali Khan warmly welcomed him.
Ishaq Dar said, “The shrine in Lahore stands as a radiant beacon of spiritual guidance, where millions of devotees visit every year.”
Dr Ehsan Bhutta gave a detailed briefing on the ongoing expansion and renovation project of the shrine.
The project includes the construction of a front courtyard, installation of modern automated shade canopies, demolition over four kanals of land, and acquisition of 17 kanals of additional land.
The DPM appreciated the Punjab government, especially Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, for this historic project.
He termed it a visionary and people-friendly initiative that would play an important role in improving facilities for visitors and enhancing their spiritual experience.
He also praised Dr Ehsan Bhutta for his tireless efforts, strong monitoring system and proactive approach in advancing the project on an emergency basis.
He commended the Auqaf Department’s commitment for preserving the sanctity and spirituality of the sacred place while providing modern facilities.
He expressed satisfaction over the pace of development, high standards and integrated planning and directed the authorities concerned to further accelerate work and complete key projects before the annual Urs in July.
Ishaq Dar, along with the Auqaf secretary and the administration, offered prayers for the country’s progress, unity and stability.
He reiterated that such transformative initiatives reflect a deep connection with the spiritual legacy of the Sufi saints and play a vital role in promoting religious tourism, facilitating pilgrims, and highlighting the global message of peace and harmony.
