District Scrutiny Committee reviews 20 land dispute cases
RAWALPINDI, Aug 08 (APP): The first meeting of the District Scrutiny Committee was held in the chair of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir, who listened to 20 cases concerning land disputes.
The meeting was attended by City Police Officer CPO Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Captain (Retd) Tayyab Sami Khan, all Assistant Commissioners, SDPOs, concerned Station House Officers (SHOs) and applicants.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir said the prime objective of establishing the District Scrutiny Committee was to resolve land disputes at the local level strictly on merit and in accordance with the law.
He said more than 80 percent of cases were rooted in land disputes and their timely resolution would help reduce the burden of litigation on courts, police and the Revenue Department.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Captain (Retd) Tayyab Sami Khan briefed the meeting that the tribunal had so far referred 200 cases to the District Scrutiny Committee, of which 20 were taken up for hearing during the meeting.
The deputy commissioner heard the parties in various cases and issued decisions on merit after considering their respective positions. He directed officials to promptly submit reports regarding individuals making unlawful claims without ownership and ensure legal action against them.
He also ordered the immediate partition of jointly held land to ensure that each co-owner receives their lawful share and that land disputes are resolved on a permanent basis.
Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir made it clear that strict legal action would be taken against illegal occupants. He further directed that the strict possible action be recommended against those filing false, baseless or misleading applications.
The deputy commissioner instructed the relevant officers to dispose of all cases transparently, fairly and strictly in accordance with the law to ensure the prompt provision of justice to applicants.
