Dist admin takes steps to ensure peaceful, secure Muharram observances

Assistant Commissioner Attock Muhammad Arif Qureshi on Monday said that Muharram-ul-Haram embodied the noble values of patience, sacrifice, truthfulness and humanity and all Muharram-related events would be conducted in a peaceful and secure environment through mutual coordination and cooperation, enabling mourners to perform their religious rituals with comfort and satisfaction.

ATTOCK, Jun 8 (APP):Assistant Commissioner Attock Muhammad Arif Qureshi on Monday said that Muharram-ul-Haram embodied the noble values of patience, sacrifice, truthfulness and humanity and all Muharram-related events would be conducted in a peaceful and secure environment through mutual coordination and cooperation, enabling mourners to perform their religious rituals with comfort and satisfaction.
He made these remarks while addressing organisers during a visit to Imambargah Panjtani in the city.
SDPO Saddar Circle, Ilyas Baig, SHO Saddar, Taimoor Khan, Special Branch Inspector, Aftab Ahmed Khattak, Tehsildar Attock, CSO Malik Naeem, Security Branch officials, Safiullah and Faisal, along with other concerned officers, were also present.
The assistant commissioner said maintaining peace and security during Muharram programmes was a collective responsibility. He described the tragedy of Karbala as a shining example for the Muslim Ummah of steadfastness in upholding truth and righteousness.
He urged citizens to promptly report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities and called upon Imambargah organisers and volunteers to work closely together to prevent any disruptive elements from disturbing law and order.
During the visit, Qureshi inspected the route of the procession originating from Imambargah Panjtani. He later reviewed the routes of the 9th Muharram procession at Sheikh Bagh and other designated procession routes.
Inspecting potential obstacles along the routes, he directed officials to ensure comprehensive cleanliness, security arrangements and all other necessary preparations before the commencement of the processions.
The assistant commissioner also sought feedback from Imambargah organisers regarding the administrative arrangements. The organisers expressed satisfaction and appreciated the cooperation of the district administration, Special Branch, Security Branch, Bomb Disposal Squad, Rescue 1122, District Headquarters Hospital, WAPDA and other relevant institutions, noting that the departments had consistently extended full support.
