DC reviews GT road drainage measures

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gujrat, Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi on Saturday chaired a meeting with Motorway Police and relevant departments to review measures aimed at resolving drainage issues along GT Road (N-5), particularly during the monsoon season.

GUJRAT, Jun 20 (APP): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gujrat, Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi on Saturday chaired a meeting with Motorway Police and relevant departments to review measures aimed at resolving drainage issues along GT Road (N-5), particularly during the monsoon season.
The meeting was attended by Motorway Police officials, Assistant Commissioner(AC) Kharian Ahmed Sher Gondal, Chief Officer District Council Syed Faraz Mehdi, Deputy Director (DD) Development Tasawar Abbas and other concerned officers.
Officials reviewed points of rainwater accumulation along GT Road (N-5) in Gujrat and Lalamus with Motorway Police urging the district administration to address drainage bottlenecks at Haryawala,Panjan Kasana and Kuliuwall Syedan.
The meeting was informed that the District Council had already been directed to excavate temporary drainage channels in Kharian to prevent water accumulation until completion of ongoing development schemes under the Punjab Development Program.
It was further apprised that WASA would take necessary measures in Gujrat to ensure effective drainage during rainfall, preventing water-logging on GT Road and ensuring smooth flow of traffic.
