Deputy Commissioner(DC) Lahore, Muhammad Ali Ejaz, on Monday reviewed flood preparedness arrangements in Ravi Tehsil and directed the authorities concerned to ensure round-the-clock monitoring of the River Ravi and complete readiness to deal with any emergency during the monsoon season.
DC Reviews Flood Preparedness, Orders 24/7 Monitoring of River Ravi

LAHORE, Jul 13 (APP): Deputy Commissioner(DC) Lahore, Muhammad Ali Ejaz, on Monday reviewed flood preparedness arrangements in Ravi Tehsil and directed the authorities concerned to ensure round-the-clock monitoring of the River Ravi and complete readiness to deal with any emergency during the monsoon season.
During his visit to Bund Road in Shahdara Town, the DC was accompanied by CEO MCL Kaleem Yousaf, Assistant Commissioner(AC) Ravi Humaira Shah, officials of the Irrigation Department and other relevant departments.
The Irrigation Department gave a detailed briefing on the prevailing flood situation and preparedness measures. The deputy commissioner was informed that all arrangements to tackle any possible flooding during the monsoon had been completed and preventive measures for the protection of citizens had been finalized.
DC Muhammad Ali Ejaz directed officials to maintain continuous monitoring of the River Ravi’s water flow, keep relief camps operational for any emergency and ensure that staff and machinery remain on high alert at all times. He also instructed the Irrigation Department, Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to further strengthen coordination for an effective flood response.
The DC said the protection of citizens and safeguarding their lives and property remained the district administration’s top priority.
He said all available resources would be utilized to deal with any flood-like situation, adding that emergency preparedness had been completed and no negligence in protective arrangements would be tolerated.
He further said that 24-hour monitoring of protective embankments was being ensured to minimize any potential risk during the monsoon season.
Meanwhile, DC Muhammad Ali Ejaz also reviewed the ongoing desilting operation at Baradari Road, Begum Kot, directing officials to complete the cleaning of all drains before the monsoon season.
He ordered regular sewerage inspections, operational readiness of pumping stations in low-lying areas, and said the administration was fully alert to prevent urban flooding and ensure effective drainage during rains.
