DC reviews drainage operations after heavy morning rain

Following heavy rainfall early Tuesday morning,Deputy Commissioner(DC),Awais Mushtaq visited low-lying areas and key drainage facilities to review rainwater disposal arrangements on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister(CM),Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

SIALKOT,Jul 21 (APP):Following heavy rainfall early Tuesday morning,Deputy Commissioner(DC),Awais Mushtaq visited low-lying areas and key drainage facilities to review rainwater disposal arrangements on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister(CM),Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
According to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office spokesperson,DC inspected dewatering operations in the low-lying Shahabpura locality,reviewed the performance of WASA staff and directed officials to ensure the immediate removal of accumulated rainwater.
He also instructed authorities to promptly address public complaints and maintain continuous monitoring of vulnerable areas to provide maximum relief to residents.
Later,DC Awais visited the Model Town Disposal Station to assess preparedness for urban flooding.
He reviewed the functioning of the drainage system, inspected the availability and operational condition of backup generators and directed WASA officials to remain on high alert to ensure uninterrupted drainage operations during the rainy spell.
Assistant Commissioner City Safdar Shabbir and WASA Managing Director Faisal Shehzad accompanied the deputy commissioner during the inspections.
