Deputy Commissioner (DC) Capt (retd) Nadeem Nasir has directed all departments concerned to complete administrative, municipal and safety arrangements on Muharram procession routes well before time, stressing that provision of security, cleanliness and public facilities to mourners would remain the foremost priority of district administration.
DC orders for Muharram arrangements, facilities at procession routes

FAISALABAD, Jun 07 (APP): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Capt (retd) Nadeem Nasir has directed all departments concerned to complete administrative, municipal and safety arrangements on Muharram procession routes well before time, stressing that provision of security, cleanliness and public facilities to mourners would remain the foremost priority of district administration.
He issued the directives while chairing an important meeting convened to review arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram processions and religious gatherings across the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner General Anwar Ali, Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance Mudassar Mumtaz, assistant commissioners, and officers of the Municipal Corporation, District Council, WASA, Development Department and other relevant institutions were also present in the meeting.
Reviewing preparedness of various departments, the deputy commissioner directed officials to ensure timely completion of all arrangements on procession routes and at venues of Majalis.
He particularly emphasized maintaining high standards of cleanliness at key congregation points including Dhobi Ghat Ground and other locations where religious gatherings and mourning processions would be held.
He instructed the civic agencies to expedite patchwork and repair of roads falling along procession routes and ensure that no manhole remained uncovered at any location.
All necessary precautionary measures should be completed in advance to prevent any inconvenience or safety risks to the mourners, he added.
He also ordered the concerned departments to secure overhead wires and utility installations passing through procession routes, directing the officials to eliminate any potential hazards before the commencement of Muharram activities.
He stressed that all streetlights and other lighting arrangements along the routes should remain fully functional to facilitate smooth movement of mourners and strengthen security monitoring during processions and gatherings.
Highlighting the importance of modern surveillance, DC Nadeem Nasir directed the authorities to integrate security cameras installed on procession routes with the Safe City monitoring system to enhance vigilance and ensure real-time monitoring of events.
He further instructed the relevant departments and organizers to establish well-managed Sabeels at appropriate locations to facilitate participants and provide essential services during Muharram.
He said that the district administration was committed to ensure peaceful and well-organized observance of Muharram-ul-Haram. In this connection, maintenance of law & order, cleanliness and uninterrupted public facilities would be given top priority throughout the holy month, he added.
He directed all departments to maintain close coordination and complete their assigned tasks within the stipulated timeframe to ensure smooth conduct of Muharram Majalis and mourning processions across the district.
