RAWALPINDI, Sep 07 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir has directed the concerned departments to ensure strict implementation of building bylaws and take legal action against violations and illegal constructions across the district.
He issued the directions while chairing a meeting held to review the implementation of building bylaws, construction laws and action against illegal constructions. The meeting was attended by officers of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi, Building Control Authorities, Tehsil Administration and other concerned departments.
The meeting reviewed the status of construction activities, use of commercial and residential buildings, illegal constructions, approval of building maps and compliance with building bylaws in accordance with approved maps.
The DC said illegal construction and violations of approved building plans would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He directed the concerned officers to strengthen field monitoring and identify violations promptly for action in accordance with the law.
Nasir also directed the authorities to create awareness among citizens regarding construction laws, map approval procedures and other relevant regulations to discourage illegal construction.
He said effective enforcement of building laws, alongside provision of facilities to citizens, was essential for the orderly development of the city, reduction of traffic pressure and improved urban planning.
The DC directed the concerned officers to dispose of pending cases within the stipulated time and make the field monitoring and reporting mechanism more effective.
