A man wanted by police in more than 40 criminal cases was killed in an alleged encounter with police in the Razaabad area late on Thursday,officials said.

FAISALABAD, Jul 24 (APP):A man wanted by police in more than 40 criminal cases was killed in an alleged encounter with police in the Razaabad area late on Thursday,officials said.

According to a police spokesperson,a police team raided an area near Yousaf Chohar to arrest the suspect when he and his accomplices allegedly opened fire on the officers.

Police returned fire,during which the suspect sustained bullet injuries.

He was shifted to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The body was taken into police custody,while legal proceedings have been initiated.

Further investigation was underway.
