LAHORE, Jun 12 (APP): The City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) has decided to introduce Chief Minister Punjab QR Panic Buttons, dash cameras and GPS trackers in online cab services in phases to enhance passenger safety and promote secure transportation facilities in the provincial capital.
The decision was taken during a meeting between Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi and representatives of various online taxi companies, where both sides agreed to make modern security features mandatory for the protection of citizens, particularly women passengers.
Speaking on the occasion, the CTO said all online cab companies would be required to install QR Panic Buttons, dash cameras and GPS trackers in their vehicles at the earliest. He warned that action would be taken against vehicles failing to comply with the prescribed safety measures.
Shirazi said the use of advanced tracking systems and camera technology would improve monitoring of both passengers and drivers, help prevent crime and ensure greater transparency in investigations of accidents and other untoward incidents.
He said CTPL would provide all possible assistance to online cab companies in the installation of CM Punjab QR Panic Buttons to facilitate the provision of safe, reliable and quality transport services to citizens.
The CTO added that these technology-driven initiatives would further strengthen public safety while supporting the vision of smart traffic management and secure travel in Lahore.
