CTPL issues traffic plan for Chehlum, Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA) Urs

LAHORE, Aug 03 (APP):City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) on Monday issued a comprehensive traffic management plan and advisory for the three-day observance of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the 983rd annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), with several roads to remain closed to general traffic due to security arrangements.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said that milk supply vehicles, handcarts and rickshaws would reach the designated Sabeels via Azadi Flyover and Pir Makki. Milk carriers coming from Kasur, Kahna, Burki Road, Bedian Road and GT Road would be diverted through Ring Road and Azadi Flyover.
The CTO said that Kutchery Chowk, Bhatti Chowk and the road from Pir Makki to Data Darbar would remain closed to all kinds of traffic, while Lower Mall Road from District Courts Chowk to Pir Makki U-turn would also remain closed during the security arrangements.
He said traffic management duties would be supervised by SSP City Zone Maqsood Loon, with the deployment of five DSPs, 111 traffic inspectors and 900 traffic wardens. To curb illegal parking, 15 forklifts and four breakdown vehicles had also been deployed, while five parking stands had been designated for visitors.
According to the traffic plan, vehicles coming from Shahdara towards Lower Mall would be diverted from Azadi Chowk towards the Railway Station and from Niazi Shaheed Chowk towards Bund Road and Saggian. Traffic approaching from Kutchery Chowk would be diverted to Outfall Road.
The CTO said traffic from the Inner Circular Road would be allowed to proceed via Mori Gate, Urdu Bazaar and Kutchery Road, while no traffic would be permitted towards Data Darbar or Lower Mall from District Courts Chowk, the DIG Operations Office corner, Government College University, Rattan Chowk, Bilal Ganj, Beri Wala Chowk, Mori Gate, Taxali Chowk and Azadi Chowk.
He advised motorists travelling from Chouburji and PMG Chowk towards Ravi Road to use Saggian and Ring Road as alternative routes.
The CTO said citizens would be kept informed about traffic diversions through FM Radio and the Rasta App, and advised the public to contact the Traffic Police Helpline 15 for further information or assistance.
