CTP Rawalpindi finalizes comprehensive traffic plan for Chehlum processions

RAWALPINDI, Aug 02 (APP):City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi have finalized a comprehensive traffic management plan for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) scheduled to be observed on Tuesday, August 4.

Acting on the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam, Chief Security Officer Traffic Inspector Muhammad Waseem said that a total of 11 Chehlum processions would be taken out across Rawalpindi district.

More than 310 traffic officers and personnel have been deployed to regulate traffic and ensure smooth movement during the religious observance.

According to CTP spokesperson, 12 traffic diversion points will be established across the city to maintain security and traffic flow.

During the processions, several major roads will remain closed to vehicular traffic, including Liaquat Road (from DAV College Chowk to Fawara Chowk), City Saddar Road (Mashriq Hotel to Fawara Chowk) Kashmiri Bazaar Road (Novelty Cinema to Fawara Chowk) Ganjmandi Road (Ganjmandi Police Station Turn to Fawara Chowk), Bagh Sardaran Road (Chungi No. 4 to Bansawala Chowk), Banni Chowk, Iqbal Road (Committee Chowk to Fawara Chowk), Gordon College Road, Fifth Road, Fourth Road, and Asghar Mall Road.

Traffic from various parts of the city will be diverted to alternate routes, while additional traffic personnel will be deployed to assist commuters and minimise disruptions.

CTO Farhan Aslam directed all circle DSPs and traffic in-charges to remain on high alert, maintain close coordination with the district police, and ensure the effective implementation of the traffic plan.

He also instructed officers to provide maximum assistance to the public throughout the Chehlum observances.

The CTO urged citizens to cooperate with the traffic police by following the traffic plan, using alternate routes, and avoiding unnecessary travel on Murree Road and adjoining areas during procession timings to prevent inconvenience.
