CTO imposes restrictions on unlicensed,unfit commercial vehicles

LAHORE, Jun 05 (APP):Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi on Friday imposed a ban on the entry of commercial vehicles lacking valid driving licenses,fitness certificates or functional front and rear lights into the provincial capital.
According to the spokesman,only those commercial vehicles whose drivers possess valid driving licenses would be allowed to enter the city.
The spokesman said strict action would also be taken against loader tractor-trolleys transporting sand, soil and other construction materials without protective tarpaulin covers.
The CTO said special checking and general hold-up operations had been launched at all entry and exit points of the city to ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
He added that the relevant SPs and DSPs would personally supervise the crackdown against traffic violations.
Shirazi announced a zero-tolerance policy against commercial vehicles operating with high-beam headlights,non-functional rear lights or without valid fitness certificates.
He said there would be no compromise on the protection of citizens’ lives and property,adding that strict enforcement measures were being implemented to improve road safety and reduce accidents.
The CTO directed commercial drivers to keep their driving licenses,fitness certificates and other required documents with them at all times and warned that no leniency would be shown in cases of traffic law violations.
