RAWALPINDI, Jun 29 (APP): City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani on Monday took notice of escaping several under trial prisoners from a prison van in the Sihala area.
The CPO immediately directed senior police officers to reach the scene, supervise the operation, and submit a detailed report about the incident.
According to police spokesperson, four of the escaped prisoners were recaptured during an intensive search operation.
Special police teams were continuing search operations to apprehend the remaining fugitives.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Sihala Police Station in Islamabad, and Rawalpindi Police are coordinating closely with the relevant Islamabad Police authorities.
Initial investigations reported that a violent altercation broke out among the prisoners inside the prison van, leading to the escape.
Police official said all remaining escapees would be arrested and dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, a formal inquiry into the incident has also been launched under the supervision of senior police officers. Authorities said strict departmental action would be taken against those found responsible of any negligence.
