Commissioner, RPO review security arrangements for Chehlum procession
RAWALPINDI, Aug 04 (APP):Commissioner Rawalpindi, Salman Ghani accompanied by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Babar Sarfraz Alpa on Tuesday visited the central Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) to review the security arrangements and law and order.
During the visit, City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera briefed the commissioner and the RPO on the comprehensive security plan, deployment of police personnel and other operational measures put in place for the procession.
Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements, the RPO directed officials to ensure that all streets and lanes leading to the procession route remained completely sealed and that no unauthorized person was allowed to enter the route.
He instructed that participants should be allowed to enter the procession only through designated entry points after thorough security screening. He also directed that all officers and personnel deployed on security duty be fully briefed about their responsibilities and remain vigilant throughout the event.
Babar Sarfraz Alpa emphasized the effective use of the Safe City surveillance system, CCTV cameras and other modern technologies to ensure continuous monitoring of the procession and facilitate a prompt response to any emergency.
He reiterated that maintaining law and order and protecting the lives and property of citizens remained the Punjab Police’s foremost priority.
The RPO urged citizens to cooperate with the police by complying with security measures and immediately report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities.
He said all available resources were being utilized to ensure foolproof security for the Chehlum and the peaceful observance of the Chehlum of the martyrs of Karbala.
