Commissioner reviews development projects, orders traffic, anti-encroachment measures before Eid

RAWALPINDI, Mar 16 (APP):Commissioner of Rawalpindi Division, Engineer Amir Khattak, on Monday, directed officials to ensure smooth traffic flow at construction sites in view of the expected increase in public movement ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
During a meeting at the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to review ongoing development projects, traffic management, and anti-encroachment efforts in the city, he instructed the Punjab Traffic Police to deploy special squads near development sites to minimise inconvenience to commuters.
Khattak also directed the departments concerned to share regular updates on the progress of development projects and provide daily video footage of ongoing work to monitor the pace and quality of construction.
He said work on development schemes should continue without disruption during the Eid holidays, asking institutions to arrange alternative duty schedules so that projects remain on track.
The commissioner further instructed authorities to take effective action against encroachments in the Marir Hassan area, noting that their removal would help improve traffic flow and facilitate citizens.
He directed relevant departments to continue the anti-encroachment campaign in a coordinated manner and ensure that no illegal occupation of government land or roads was allowed.
The meeting also discussed proposals aimed at ensuring the timely completion of development projects, improving traffic management and enhancing civic facilities in the city.
Khattak emphasised that all institutions must work in close coordination to complete projects within the stipulated timeframe and ensure that the quality of work is not compromised.
