RAWALPINDI, Jul 20 (APP):Commissioner Rawalpindi Salman Ghani on Monday directed building authorities and construction teams to expedite finishing work at the under-construction Children’s Hospital on Asghar Mall Road and said that no compromise would be tolerated on construction standards.
The commissioner issued these directives during a detailed site visit to review the ongoing construction pace of the mega healthcare project.
“The establishment of this modern healthcare facility is a cornerstone of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s ‘Healthy Punjab’ vision,” Salman Ghani said, adding that after completion, the hospital will ensure premium pediatric care not only for Rawalpindi but for patients coming from across the entire division.
During the briefing, officials informed the commissioner that the main structural work of the hospital building has been completed, with all operational focus now shifted toward internal and external finishing, electrical installations, and service fittings.
“The quality of tiles and construction material used across all floors must meet the highest corporate standards,” the Commissioner maintained.
He further said that any use of substandard material will meet with immediate disciplinary action, as the construction durability must remain uniform across every single ward.
He explicitly directed the executing agencies to ensure separate washrooms for male and female visitors, spacious waiting areas, uninterrupted clean drinking water, wide parking spaces, modern electrical wiring, proper ventilation, fire safety protocols, ramps, and dedicated lifts for persons with disabilities.
“We must also incorporate extensive plantation, green lawns, and landscaping within and around the hospital premises to ensure a healthy environment, which significantly aids patient recovery”, he said.
He further directed that matters pertaining to the drainage networks, waste management systems, public signage, and security installations must be finalized simultaneously without any structural delay.
The commissioner concluded that the divisional administration will monitor progress on a daily basis to eliminate operational bottlenecks, reiterating that any unexcused delays in completing the project within the stipulated deadline would invite strict accountability.
Senior officials from the departments of health, buildings, communication, and works (C&W), and representatives of the construction company accompanied him during the inspection.
