Commissioner meets Deputy Head of Mission Irish Embassy
FAISALABAD, Jul 29 (APP):Commissioner Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh met with Deputy Head of Mission of the Irish Embassy in Pakistan Declan Johnston here on Wednesday.
The Commissioner accorded a warm welcome to the distinguished guest at his office.
He said that the commissioner office would develop bilateral relations with Ireland, especially in the business sector.
The Commissioner said that he, as Director General Environmental Protection Agency, took several revolutionary steps to make the industries environment friendly during the last 2 years. He said that the industry is being mobilized to install waste water treatment plants while efforts have also been intensified on the industry relocation plan. He said that efforts are also underway to ensure that industrial units meet the conditions required for GSP Plus status.
He said that making Faisalabad a major industrial hub and industries in accordance with environmental protection parameters is a priority.
The Commissioner informed about the construction projects and development of the division and the steps to make Faisalabad an environment-friendly division.
He said that the protection of the rights of minorities and the solution of their problems is the top priority. In this regard, a minority cell is also being established in the Commissioner’s office, while similar cells will be established in other districts of the division where the problems of minorities will be solved on a priority basis.
The Deputy Head of Mission Ireland said that he is visiting Faisalabad for the first time and he is happy to visit here.
He appreciated the development plan of Faisalabad and the implementation of environment-friendly measures and said that Ireland will promote business activities with Faisalabad. He appreciated the efforts of the Commissioner for taking effective measures to protect the rights of minorities
