Commissioner inspects Muharram arrangements,inmate welfare at Sargodha jail

SARGODHA, Jun 18 (APP):Commissioner Sargodha Hafiz Shaukat Ali on Thursday visited the District Jail Sargodha to review Muharram arrangements, inmate welfare facilities and rehabilitation programs aimed at prisoner reformation.

According to a spokesperson for the commissioner’s office, Saeedullah Gondal and Superintendent District Jail Khan Waheed Khan accompanied the commissioner during the visit.

The commissioner inspected arrangements for Majalis and mourning gatherings being held inside the jail during the first 10 days of Muharram.

He met inmates participating in the observances and reviewed facilities being provided to them.

Addressing religious speakers and organizers,Hafiz Shaukat Ali said the tragedy of Karbala and the life of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) carry enduring lessons of patience,tolerance,adherence to law and standing firm for truth and justice.

He urged Zakireen to promote the message of self-reformation and moral improvement among inmates.

He also visited the Women Skill Development Center and was briefed on vocational and technical training program being offered to female prisoners.

The commissioner reviewed psychological counseling services for inmates,noting that mental health support played a key role in rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

Later,he inspected renovated barracks,the video call and family meeting center and the jail ration store,reviewing food quality, storage conditions and availability of essential items.

He said prisons should serve as reformative institutions alongside punishment,focusing on education,rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates into society.

The commissioner expressed satisfaction over security and Muharram arrangements in the jail and appreciated the prison administration’s efforts to maintain a peaceful environment.
