Commissioner directs MCR to improve civic services, accelerate digital reforms

Commissioner Rawalpindi, Salman Ghani on Thursday directed the Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) to improve civic services, strengthen transparency through digitalisation and ensure prompt resolution of public complaints during a detailed visit to the civic body’s offices.

RAWALPINDI, Jul 16 (APP): Commissioner Rawalpindi, Salman Ghani on Thursday directed the Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) to improve civic services, strengthen transparency through digitalisation and ensure prompt resolution of public complaints during a detailed visit to the civic body’s offices.
During the visit, the commissioner inspected the Control Room and the Accounts, Finance, Public Relations and Metropolitan offices, and reviewed the overall performance of the institution and its various departments.
He met members of the public, listened to their complaints and issued on-the-spot instructions to the relevant officials for their immediate resolution.
Ghani also checked staff attendance, interacted with officers and employees and heard their issues. He stressed the importance of punctuality, discipline and courteous behaviour in government offices.
The commissioner directed the authorities to accelerate the digitalisation of official affairs and introduce modern monitoring systems to improve transparency, efficiency and public convenience through the effective use of technology.
Describing the Municipal Corporation as a key institution responsible for providing essential civic services, he instructed all officers and employees to discharge their duties with honesty, dedication and a sense of responsibility.
The commissioner also ordered the authorities to dispose of all pending pension cases of retired employees on a priority basis and directed that the job description of every officer and official be prominently displayed in all branches.
He further instructed officials to ensure the active presence of staff both in offices and in the field.
Earlier, Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi, Imran Ali, briefed the commissioner on the corporation’s administrative and financial affairs, ongoing development projects, the budget for the financial year 2026-27 and the provision of civic amenities.
Following the briefing, Salman Ghani directed the immediate repair of damaged manholes across the city, restoration of street lights, effective action against encroachments and further improvement in the sanitation system.
