RAWALPINDI, Aug 21 (APP): Commissioner Rawalpindi Salman Ghani paid a detailed visit to the Chahan Dam Project to review the ongoing construction and development work.
He was given a comprehensive briefing on the overall progress of the project, ongoing construction activities, the dam’s water storage capacity and its future role in ensuring a sustainable water supply for the residents of Rawalpindi.
He directed the concerned departments to utilize all available resources to ensure the project’s completion at the earliest possible time.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Salman Ghani said that the Chahan Dam Project would prove to be a highly valuable asset for Rawalpindi. He said the project would not only enhance the city’s future water supply and storage capacity but would also play a significant role in conserving rainwater during the monsoon season and ensuring its effective management.
Commissioner remarked that the project is an important gift from the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, for the people of Rawalpindi, which will help meet the city’s long-term water requirements. He added that it is the Punjab Government’s priority to complete public welfare projects within the stipulated timelines while maintaining the highest quality standards so that their benefits can reach the public as soon as possible.
He further directed the concerned officers to accelerate the pace of work, strengthen coordination among all departments on technical and administrative matters and ensure that there is no compromise on construction quality. He instructed that any obstacles or delays should be immediately brought to the notice of the higher authorities so that timely solutions could be implemented.
He emphasized that the development of water reservoirs and the conservation of water resources are essential to meeting future demands. The completion of the Chahan Dam Project, he said, will further strengthen Rawalpindi’s water supply system while creating opportunities for the effective storage and productive utilization of monsoon rainwater.
Director Development Syed Nazarat Ali Shah, along with the heads of the relevant departments, accompanied him during the visit.
