CNF recovers over 52-kg narcotics worth Rs.9m in Sahiwal operation

Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) has recovered more than 52 kilograms of narcotics worth approximately Rs 9 million during an intelligence-based operation in Sahiwal,officials said on Friday.

LAHORE, Jun 05 (APP):Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) has recovered more than 52 kilograms of narcotics worth approximately Rs 9 million during an intelligence-based operation in Sahiwal,officials said on Friday.
According to a CNF spokesperson,the operation was launched after the force received information about the transportation of narcotics through a motorcycle in the Sahoo Chowk area of Sahiwal.
Acting on the intelligence,the CNF team arrested a suspect identified as Talha Aslam. During interrogation, the accused led the investigators to a Suzuki car allegedly being used for storing narcotics.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of 36 kgs of charas and 16 kgs of opium with a combined estimated value of around Rs.9 million.
The spokesperson said the recovered narcotics had been taken into custody and a case had been registered against the accused under relevant laws while further investigations were underway.
CNF Director General Brig Mazhar Iqbal termed the successful operation a reflection of the force’s professional capabilities and effective intelligence network.
He said indiscriminate action against drug traffickers and their facilitators would continue across the province, adding that investigations had been expanded on the basis of information obtained from the arrested suspect to identify and apprehend other members of the network.
The DG said district-level operations against narcotics traffickers were being conducted regularly throughout Punjab and reiterated the force’s commitment to protecting the younger generation from the menace of drugs.
