CM vows to transform Punjab through digital connectivity

Punjab Chief Minister(CM), Maryam Nawaz Sharif said on Sunday that telecommunication and technology had emerged as the most effective and powerful tools of the modern era, enabling societies to progress towards development, innovation and prosperity.

LAHORE, May 17 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister(CM), Maryam Nawaz Sharif said on Sunday that telecommunication and technology had emerged as the most effective and powerful tools of the modern era, enabling societies to progress towards development, innovation and prosperity.
In her message on World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, the chief minister said telecommunication was no longer merely a means of communication but had become a gateway to new opportunities and greater heights in education, governance, business and economic growth.
She said the Punjab government was committed to the vision of a “Digital Punjab,” adding that new avenues of a knowledge-based revolution were opening through modern technology and digital connectivity.
CM said that the introduction of 5G technology in Pakistan, including Punjab, would prove to be a harbinger of revolution in the field of digital telecommunication and significantly improve communication systems, economic activities and public service delivery.
The CM said innovation in telecommunication technology was essential to fully benefit from Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies, adding that the government was taking practical steps to equip the youth with modern digital skills. She added that successful implementation of e-governance and e-business initiatives had already been carried out in Punjab through advanced telecommunication systems, ensuring transparency, efficiency and better public access to services.
CM Maryam Nawaz said students were being connected with the world through modern digital facilities and laptop initiatives, while regular training program were also being conducted to link youth with international IT and telecommunication markets.
Referring to the establishment of Nawaz Sharif IT City, she expressed confidence that the project would bring revolutionary improvements in the communication and technology sectors of Punjab.
She said the Punjab government was committed to make telecommunication not only a source of convenience but also a driver of transformation, transparency and sustainable development in the province.
