CM sets target to train 2,500 rural women under SheThreads programme

LAHORE, Nov 02 (APP):As many as 1,150 rural women received textile skills training under the SheThreads programme launched on the initiative of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, while a target has been set to train 2,500 women by June 2027.
The programme aims to equip rural women with market-oriented skills and provide them with dignified employment opportunities in the textile industry. The participants will also receive a monthly stipend of Rs15,000 during the training period.
Under the initiative, the Women Development Department has started registration of women from rural areas of Lahore for a three-month training course at Shahkam Industries, located on Multan Road near Lahore.
The training will focus on industrial sewing machine operation and apparel supervision, combining classroom instruction with practical training to prepare participants for employment in the textile sector.
Women aged between 18 and 45 years, holding Punjab domicile and having at least matriculation qualification, are eligible to apply.
Interested candidates can submit their applications at Shahkam Industries along with their national identity cards and domicile certificates. Following initial screening and verification of eligibility, shortlisted candidates will be required to submit an affidavit before admission.
Further information regarding registration can also be obtained through assistant commissioners, union council secretaries and relevant district offices.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the initiative aimed to empower rural women through market-based skills training and enable them to earn a respectable livelihood. She said the programme would equip women with skills according to the needs of the market and facilitate their employment in the textile industry after successful completion of training.
