LAHORE, Jun 15 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday welcomed the Iran-US peace agreement and credited Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for helping facilitate the breakthrough, paying tribute to the country’s political, military and diplomatic leadership.
In a statement, the chief minister said the agreement reflected Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace and stability, adding that history would remember the country’s efforts to help avert economic devastation, bloodshed and a wider global crisis.
She said Pakistan’s diplomacy had opened a new chapter of peace and dialogue, describing the development as a significant diplomatic achievement for the country.
CM Maryam Nawaz said the people of Punjab, along with the entire nation, paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for their leadership and efforts in advancing Pakistan’s diplomatic objectives.
She said the country’s leadership had enhanced Pakistan’s standing in the international community and made the nation proud. “History will remember that when the world needed Pakistan, it rose to the occasion,” she remarked.
The CM said Pakistan’s leadership had helped transform an atmosphere of conflict into one of dialogue and negotiations, contributing to regional and global peace. She added that by supporting efforts aimed at preventing a broader economic and security crisis, Pakistan had rendered a valuable service to humanity. “Pakistan today stands as a symbol of peace, wisdom and responsible leadership for the world,” she added.
